Using students’ first languages in the ESOL classroom
12th February 2025At Across Cultures, we pride ourselves on being a leading provider of interactive, gamified and immersive learning for EAL, SEND and low-level literary learners through our innovative platform, Learning Village. We are thrilled to announce our membership with the British Assistive Technology Association (BATA). This partnership marks a significant step in advocating for inclusive and accessible learning through assistive technology.
BATA is a UK-based organisation dedicated to ensuring that assistive technology (AT) transforms lives. It champions the use of AT to enhance independence, accessibility and learning outcomes for individuals with diverse needs. By working with educators, policymakers, and technology providers, BATA aims to create a more inclusive learning environment for all students.
Assistive technology plays a crucial role in education by removing barriers to learning, especially for students who face challenges in traditional classroom settings. Learning Village provides structured, visual and interactive resources to help EAL learners develop English language skills, fostering confidence and engagement. As a multi-sensory program, it aligns with BATA’s mission to empower learners through technology-driven solutions.
Through this collaboration, we aim to raise awareness of the importance of assistive technology in language acquisition, share best practices and contribute to the wider discussion on inclusive education.
