Play common card games using all the Learning Village content and never have to print a set of flashcards again!
You can use these cards to play common games like snap, pairs or fish to help learners remember new vocabulary and language structures.
Starting points:
Inside the pack you have four sets of cards numbered 1-12.
The Learning Village provides you with up to 12 vocabulary or sentence structure items per lesson.
If the lesson has only 9 items, choose 4 sets of the first 9 cards only.
Every move requires the learner to say the corresponding vocabulary or sentence structure item they see on the Learning Village.
For more fun, hide the text using the ‘hide’ button and continue to ask learners to say corresponding vocabulary or sentence structure items they see on the Learning Village.
Introduce 3 lives for anyone who does not remember the text!
More detail:
Snap – the aim of the game is to win everyone’s cards!
Number of players: 2-6
1. Use the numbered vocabulary or sentence items on your Learning Village ‘learn page.’
2. Make sure you have 4 sets of the number of items on the learn page e.g. If the learn page has 8 items, you will need 4 set of cards numbered 1- 8.
3. Shuffle the pack and deal out an equal number of cards face down in front of each player until all the cards are distributed.
4. Each learner takes it in turns to take a card from their pile and put it on a pile in the middle. As they put their card down they say the corresponding sentence on the ‘learn page’ in the Learning Village e.g. If the card is number 2, they read the sentence from the item number 2 on the ‘learn page.’
5. If they turn over a card that matches the previous one, they win all the cards in the pile.
6. Once they are good at saying the sentences, give them 30 more seconds to remember them before hiding the sentences using the ‘hide’ button.
7. Introduce 3 lives for each player.
8. Learners must remember the text when they put the card down (continuing the game as normal).
9. A player loses a life if they do not get the sentence correct. They are out of the game if they lose 3 lives and the return their cards to the middle.
10. The winner is the person who has the most cards or wins all the cards.
